Pisces Lunar Eclipse: Closing Chapters, Opening Doors
The Astrology from September 17th through the 30th
The full moon occurs on September 17th in the sign of Pisces. The Earth will cast a smaller shadow on the moon, making this full moon a partial eclipse. Eclipses are known for triggering events or chapters in our never-ending story. Full moons tend to signify the culmination of an epoch, whereas a new moon would trigger the event. With the mutable sign of Pisces, it is reasonable to think of a Piscean era as one that is spiritual, artistic, and full of love and connection. But that is an idyllic Pisces—a fantastical, escapist Utopian that lives in the depths of Neptune. It’s delusional. It is gullible. And I bring this up because of the series of Pisces and Virgo eclipses we had in 2016 and 2017.
As I contemplated this eclipse and the upcoming eclipses over the next few years, I could not avoid thinking about Neptune. Neptune in Pisces made its first ingress in 2011. Neptune retrograded back into Aquarius and will enter Aries in 2025 before making its last dip into the Piscean pool in 2025-2026. Here are Neptune’s time periods in the sign of Pisces:
April 4, 2011, through August 4, 2011
February 3, 2012, through March 30, 2025 (the current transit)
October 22, 2025, through January 26, 2026
Now, just a forewarning, I will be talking about politics. Neptune in Pisces can be many wonderful things, such as creativity, dreaminess, expressions of empathy, and a collective gateway to spirituality. It’s no wonder that during the past decade we have had a resurgence in astrology and a desire to find a balance between our daily lives and a connection to something more. However, on the lower octave of the spectrum, Neptune in Pisces can be delusional, murky, deceitful, and zealous, leading us to having blinders on. There can be an oversensitivity with Pisces energy and difficulty in deciphering what is real and what is an illusion. After all, how many times have you or someone you’ve known questioned current events and asked, "How can this be true? What timeline are we living in?"
And this takes us back to an event that occurred on April 30, 2011, less than a month after Neptune entered the sign of Pisces. It involves two former presidents: Barack Obama and Donald Trump. It was the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner when then-President Obama called out Trump and his “birther” claims after roasting others in the audience—a common occurrence at these events. But it did not sit well with Trump. When you read the excerpt, there is an ominous feeling to what Obama said (the below excerpt can be found at Obama White House Archive):
[President Obama Speaking]
“Donald Trump is here tonight! (Laughter and applause.) Now, I know that he’s taken some flak lately, but no one is happier—no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than the Donald. (Laughter.) And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter – like did we fake the moon landing? (Laughter.) What really happened in Roswell? (Laughter.) And where are Biggie and Tupac? (Laughter and applause.)
But all kidding aside, obviously, we all know about your credentials and breadth of experience. (Laughter.) For example—no, seriously, just recently, in an episode of Celebrity Apprentice—(laughter)—at the steakhouse, the men’s cooking team didn’t impress the judges from Omaha Steaks. And there was a lot of blame to go around. But you, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership. And so ultimately, you didn’t blame Lil’ Jon or Meatloaf. (Laughter.) You fired Gary Busey. (Laughter.) And these are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night. (Laughter and applause.) Well handled, sir. Well handled.
Say what you will about Mr. Trump; he certainly would bring some change to the White House. Let’s see what we’ve got up there.”
Some pundits have claimed that this is when Trump decided to run for office, based on remarks from Roger Stone. Trump was courting Republican leaders before the White House event, attending and speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference a few months prior to the Correspondents’ Dinner. But this could have been the spark that led to planning and implementing a campaign in the next election cycle.
Now, let’s get into the eclipses between 2015 and 2017, which occurred during the planning stages and through the election. We tend to coordinate eclipses, meaning that first, we look at the Solar Eclipse as the initiator and the lunar eclipse as the finality of the event. Since we are having a Pisces lunar eclipse, it would make sense to look at either the last Pisces or Virgo (the polarity) solar eclipse that doesn’t have a lunar eclipse associated with it. We had 5 Solar Eclipses (3 in Pisces and 2 in Virgo) and just 1 Lunar eclipse in Pisces in the last cycle. When I review, I see 4 unresolved Solar Eclipses that reference back to 2016 and 2017.
From September 17, 2024, through February 20, 2027, we will have a new series of Pisces-Virgo eclipses. Six out of seven are Lunar eclipses (3 in Pisces and 3 in Virgo), and 1 Solar eclipse on September 21, 2025, in the sign of Virgo during the brief time that Neptune will be in Aries before going back into Pisces from October 22, 2025, through January 26, 2026. The last eclipse in this Pisces-Virgo cycle will be a lunar eclipse happening on February 20, less than a month after Neptune exits Pisces in our lifetime.
When I read the energy concerning American politics and government, the next series of eclipses starting with the one on September 17th, I can't help but think that we are closing chapters that started nearly a decade ago. Maybe I wear rose-colored glasses, but I'm hoping with the power of eclipses that we close the door on division, hostility, and hate. And if there were a zodiac sign that could actually do that, it would be Pisces first and Virgo second. The difference here is that Pisces would heal the collective consciousness, and Virgo would be concerned with healing the individual.
We are not going to know the full impact of the upcoming eclipses until we actually go through them. But my intuition tells me that we are going to work on creating a government without a multitude of loopholes that benefits everyone—not just those with powerful connections and resources. And it makes sense to me that we would have multiple lunar eclipses, not just because of what was open-ended in the past but because there would be a layer upon layer to build something inclusive. It would be a systematic project plan that took years as opposed to something that could be implemented in one day.
Now, after getting this far in the article, you may be wondering: what about me? How does this full moon and eclipse impact me? I recommend looking at your personal chart and seeing what house you have Pisces in and which house you have Virgo in. You would need your birth time to cast a chart, which can be done on websites like astro.com or my favorite, astro-seek.com. Once you know the houses, you would need to understand what each house represents. That is the area of your life that will be impacted by this full moon and eclipse. And keep in mind, this is about closing a chapter of something that started at the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017. (In an upcoming article, I will do readings by rising signs on the new and full moon.)
Following is a brief and high-level description of what each house represents to get you started:
1st House: Sense of self and appearance
2nd House: Finances and personal values
3rd House: Communication and siblings
4th House: Home and family
5th House: Creativity and romance
6th House: Daily work and health
7th House: Partnerships and relationships
8th House: Transformation and shared resources
9th House: Philosophy and higher learning
10th House: Career and public image
11th House: Friendships and aspirations
12th House: Spirituality and the unconscious
For instance, at the end of 2016, I made a decision to leave my career with my employer of 17 years. I wanted to do something more aligned with my calling, utilizing creativity and spirituality. I have had a couple of ventures using these skills. However, I have not felt completely satisfied with these pursuits. Pisces rules my 9th house, and Virgo rules my 3rd house. Wanting to do something more, I have spent the past few years completing professional astrology courses (9th house themes of higher learning and philosophy). I started a TikTok channel and recently created this Substack (3rd house themes of communication). When I do private readings for clients, I feel like I am contributing something on both the personal and spiritual levels. Over the next couple of years, as I build my practice, learn to communicate more effectively, and master my uncomfortable feeling of being in front of a camera, I will be closing chapters of the eclipses a decade ago. As you can see, eclipses can bring insight and help guide us closer to our life path.
Back to Donald Trump for just a moment. On the 18th, Trump is scheduled for sentencing on a hush money case in New York City. Pisces Saturn will conjunct the moon, and this solar eclipse will be in opposition to Mercury. Saturn is about restriction and containment, whereas Mercury is about communication. Whether or not the sentencing gets delayed again or broken up into sub-parts to be dealt with after the election, I do think that Trump’s breach of the gag order will be addressed. I say this because Cancer Mars is in conjunction with Trump’s Mercury. The action may be small compared to everything else, but I do think some action will be taken regarding Trump’s prior infractions against the gag order.
Also, on the 17th, we have Libra Venus in opposition to Aries Chiron. Venus is making a square to Pluto in Capricorn and a trine to Jupiter in Gemini. Any woman in the United States who cares about her own body autonomy may have intuitively and socially known that one of the major themes of this election would be about women’s rights and claiming back our power. Everyone, in my opinion, should be empowered regardless of gender, belief system, race, sexual orientation, identity, or anything else that we use as a society to separate ourselves instead of celebrating our individuality and commonality. When I look at this aspect, I see Venus as the champion, with the harmonious influence of Jupiter, ready to take on the power of the old guard, represented by Pluto in Capricorn, and heal the wounds of the past with Chiron. I love the symbolism of this aspect occurring on the 17th. Libra, the zodiac sign of Venus for most of September, is about balance and bringing justice. Venus is doing a lot of work for us behind the scenes to create the equilibrium that’s been absent.
From September 18th through October 9th, we will have a trine with Saturn in Pisces to Mars in Cancer. This is actually a transit where two energies that normally cause restrictiveness or agitation are working together harmoniously. Now, I’m not going to tell you that this trine aspect is easy and flowing because it’s in water signs—there’s actually a lot of work associated with this aspect. When this transit happens, expect naysayers discouraging achievements. You may see national polls or pundits being pessimistic about future outcomes. However, this is a great time to just put your head down and get work done. The efforts made by individuals as well as the collective during this timeframe will have impactful and powerful results. And these results are going to be fueled by emotion, perseverance, and most of all, empathy and understanding. I would say that this is a time to roll up your sleeves, and if you have paperwork, detailed work, or anything that you’ve procrastinated on, these weeks ahead will give you the drive to complete those tasks.
On September 22nd, the sun moves into the sign of Libra. Energy projecting outward will reflect Libra themes. For the next month, there may be a concerted effort for people to find common ground with each other. Libra likes to find balance; it is uncomfortable with extremes. With Libra, there is a focus on harmony; adversaries may come together for the greater good.
As the sun takes over the vibrations of Libra, Venus exits Libra on the 23rd and enters the sign of Scorpio. The zodiac sign of Scorpio is ruled by Mars, and in modern astrology, Pluto. This is about action and transformation. This is a time to dig deep and explore the motivating factors that are causing disunity in our lives. When we get to the root of matters, we can actually heal situations instead of putting layers of bandages that only temporarily subside the pain. In your personal relationships, this may be a great time for introspection and reflection on why certain patterns repeat that are not serving you or the other person. Sometimes the rifts can be as simple as old programming from prior generations that has lived in our subconscious unchecked and unfettered. When we realize that we’re holding onto expectations that don’t align with who we are or what we want to be, they can quickly dissipate and release us from behaviors that are holding us back from ourselves.
The 25th of the month may feel chaotic and disorienting. With the Cancer moon in play making a conjunction to Mars, we may react emotionally to any trigger. Virgo Mercury is at 29 degrees conjunct with the Libra sun at 3 degrees; the analytical characteristic of Mercury may be overshadowed by the sun. With Neptune in opposition to the Sun and Mercury, the information we get can be either eye-opening or clouded, or we may have a shift in our perspective. Depending on your own chart, you may feel like your head and heart are not in sync and feel a bit out of your element, especially if your chart has heavy early and late degree placements in the air or fire signs. As I have said in the past, when information comes to you, try your best to detach and take your time to give a full analysis. Keep in mind that the media is not what it used to be; each platform has its own agenda.
(On a side note, I am a listener of NPR, and I do think that they have some quality content, especially when it comes to science, medical breakthroughs, and reviews of art and culture. Even though they technically do not have advertisers, they do have corporate sponsors. If there is a source that you generally agree with during this election cycle, I recommend having discernment regardless of the source.)
In summary, September is the start of transformational change, closing the past, and working towards unity by respecting individuality. For some, the shift will feel like an old friend, while others may be grappling with their own beliefs and confronting the illusions of the past. But for most of us, we may experience a little of both- comfort and questioning simultaneously. We start the month with Pluto retrograding back into Capricorn, and mid-month we encounter a partial lunar eclipse in Pisces—the first of a series. Personally, certain chapters in your life may start to gain resolution. For the United States, we will see an election cycle like no other.
