I confess. There are times when there is so much hype about something that I instinctively want to go in the opposite direction. Maybe it is because my Moon is in opposition to my Uranus and Pluto. It could be, since it is always a feeling, not a thought, that makes me want to take a stance different from everyone else.
My Eclipse Stories
I would like to pretend that eclipses have never impacted me, but that could be further from the truth. All I have to do is look back at 1991, a year with six eclipses. Three of those eclipses happened from the end of June through the end of July. It was the same period when I was at my most desperate, trying to convince my now ex-husband to fall back in love with me. He had a crush on another woman he met while going out after work with a buddy of his.
Don't get me wrong. Our marriage was already on the rocks. The year before, I had almost moved out and considered becoming roommates with a friend of mine. My son was only two years old, and I could not wrap my head around how everything would work out. After a few weeks of counseling, I decided to give the marriage one last try, and my ex agreed to go to counseling as well. I was under an enormous amount of stress, most of it related to the business I owned with my ex-husband and his laid-back approach to collecting payments while still delivering goods. The buddy he went out for drinks with owed us $13,000 at any given moment, and the work we did for him was highly discounted. My job was to pay the bills and keep the lights on, which was often a challenge.
Things got better for a little while. I stopped reacting to the buttons my ex-husband loved to push. I let things roll off my back and did my best to look at the big picture. It wasn't until after we were apart that I realized he loved the drama. He thrived in chaos, even though an outsider might look at him and think he was calm and reserved. I know where this energy came from. His childhood was horrific. If I were to tell you what his childhood was like, I would have to give trigger warnings. Essentially, he grew up with a monster in the home.
In 1991, there was a lunar eclipse on June 26th at 5° Capricorn, followed by a solar eclipse on July 11th at 19°. Between these two eclipses, my ex and I, along with my son and my parents, went to Busch Gardens. The distance between my ex and me was insufferable. Nothing I did was good enough, and knowing he had feelings for someone else made me feel like I was walking on eggshells. I realized I needed to confront him and make him decide. A few days later, I asked him if he wanted to stay married or if we should get a divorce. His answer was, "I don't want to be married, but I also don't want to get a divorce." That was when I knew I had to make the decision. That night, I packed up many of his belongings and told him to leave.
Because eclipses happen so often, it is easy to dismiss them. There are many years when an eclipse feels like just a new or full moon with a little extra energy. But then there are other times, especially when other planetary aspects are in play, when an eclipse can pack a punch. It can completely knock you out of left field.
One such time I experienced the power of an eclipse was on August 7th, 2017. The lunar eclipse was in my eighth house at 16° in Aquarius. The love of my life was hooked up to machines in the ICU. He was intubated, and although he could hear us, he remained in a sleep-like state. I had spent the past two weeks by his side, bringing crystals, talking to him, and even reading a book out loud so he could hear. I invited all of his friends to come and see him, hoping that all of the goodwill would somehow clear up the sepsis and get his internal organs working again. But on the drive home in the darkness on August 7th, I knew he was going to be passing over soon.
The next morning, when I arrived at the hospital, I was told that his heart was also failing and that he most likely would not make it through the day. I held his hand and stroked his hair, and psychically introduced him to my father, who had passed away in 1984. I called upon his connections on the other side as well as mine, and I knew the room was filled with spirit. A few of his friends were in the room with us, so I spoke to him telepathically, letting him know how much I would miss him, but I also knew he was in pain and it was time for him to cross. Even as I write this, tears well up in my eyes, just as they did that night when the machines went silent.
I am admitting that eclipses can be a big deal. Do they all bring an impending divorce or the death of someone close to you? No, not at all.
They signify change, usually dramatic change. However, this change is not always unexpected or something we would consider sad. Take the lunar eclipse on August 27th, 1988, at 4° Pisces. My son was a day old, and I was adjusting to strange feelings of ambivalence, curiosity, panic, exhaustion, and love that was different from anything I had ever felt before. I was trying to come to terms with the realization that I was actually a mother, even though I had technically been preparing for nine months.
Big events do not always correlate with an eclipse, and eclipses do not always signify a big event. Other transits showed the breakup as well as my partner's death. Even with my son's chart, there was a transformative aspect where Pluto was conjunct my Sun at the time of his birth. Eclipses rarely stand on their own, but because they are associated with the new and full moons, you are likely to find something either beginning or ending around the time of the eclipse.
A Little Eclipse History
How did eclipses become such a focal point in astrology and lore? Imagine being in a small village where the sun was never blocked out. It always shone brightly, except when there was rain, which you could predict as the clouds darkened the sky. You, your family, and your neighbors might have heard of eclipses, but when one occurred, major changes happened in your village. Perhaps an elder passed away, or a new leader was born. The changes were not just because of the eclipse, but the villagers might not have been aware of the other astrological aspects at play. That eclipse marked something. They knew change was coming because they could see astrology in action. When the sky darkened with a shadow in front of the sun, they understood something drastic was about to happen.
Even though eclipses are common, they are not often seen. This is because when an eclipse happens, it can only be viewed in certain parts of the world. This is why the total solar eclipse on April 8th, 2024, was considered a big deal by astrologers. This eclipse was part of Saros Series 139, an eclipse pattern that repeats itself for approximately 1,500 years. At any given time, there are about 40 Saros cycles in action. Since this eclipse passed through the United States and was visible along the entire Eastern Seaboard, including Washington, D.C., many astrologers believed it signified a shift in the identity of the United States.
Due to our past perceptions of eclipses, they add extra emphasis to the other transits of the time. I cannot help but notice that the eclipse of April 8th went through Mexico, the United States, and a small part of Canada. Not only did it pass through these three countries, but it also went over the state of Maine, which may play a big role in politics heading into the future. I mention this because the lunar eclipse in the early hours of March 14th and the solar eclipse on March 29th will also be visible in Maine.
The Astrology of the Lunar Eclipse
The March 13th-14th total lunar eclipse will occur at 24° Virgo. Virgo is the sign of being of service to others. This eclipse is part of Saros Series 123. During this eclipse, the Sun will be in conjunction with Saturn and Neptune. When the Sun is conjunct Saturn, most people's attention will focus on their responsibilities. The tricky part is that there may be a question of whether those responsibilities are real. It could be a hard time to relate to others, and you may feel somewhat alone and isolated.
The Sun's conjunction with Neptune can heighten sensitivity, possibly leading to intuitive insights. You might find yourself more concerned about other people than yourself. However, there may also be a sense of being overwhelmed, feeling like you just cannot deal with the world. With the eclipse happening in the sign of Pisces, it may feel like everything and everyone is all mashed together, making it difficult to see where the actual boundaries lie, whether in your personal life or your relationship with the world.
There are other aspects to consider during this lunar eclipse. Venus will be in retrograde, and Mercury will be in its shadow, creating a focus on you as an individual. You might find it easier to express your feelings from a place of reflection and intellect. Mars' influence could inspire you to start a new project or take decisive action. This period is all about your feelings and your mind. If you have been battling with others or simply trying to figure out your place in the world, this eclipse could bring clarity over the next few weeks, especially if you are reflecting on who you truly are. You might gain insights into your own wants and desires and how they fit into the current landscape.
The Virgo Moon will form a grand trine with Pluto and Uranus. Regardless of how you are feeling or thinking, this is not the time to commit to any of your ideas. Let this lunar eclipse settle in, as it marks the beginning of a transformative period. This is not a time for rushing; instead, it is a time for recording your thoughts and prioritizing what you value, particularly when it comes to yourself. This does not mean you should neglect your relationships. Instead, it may be a good time to ask yourself what you bring to your relationships and what they provide for you. Are you and those close to you on the same page? If not, are you approaching your connections from a place of dependence or independence?
Eclipses and World Leaders
But like many who live in the United States, what is happening in Washington, D.C., is at the top of our minds. I have often recommended stepping away from the news cycle as much as possible, but I know that is not always easy to do. Regardless of your political beliefs, I think most of us can agree that we live within broken systems. The United States is like that first new car you bought and pampered with love in the beginning. As the years went by, your maintenance waned. You drove through salt water, overloaded it with bags of dirt and rocks, and threw paint cans in the back to jazz up your new home. You drove miles upon miles, and now, 20 years later, the engine has blown, the radiator needs replacing, and the car is essentially worthless due to its condition. But you loved this car. You are actually thinking about ways to repair it, convincing yourself it is a classic, even though, in reality, it is not much different from other cars in its class. It is hard to let go, and the last thing you want is to see it hauled off to the junkyard, to be pieced out for parts, to rust and deteriorate, and eventually disappear altogether. This is where we are with the United States. Just as an eclipse marks a turning point, the country may be approaching a pivotal moment, where it will reinvent itself whether we like it or not.
A couple of months ago, I was on a TikTok live, and one of my three viewers asked what I thought of the eclipse on March 14th. He asked because this day marks his birthday, but when I looked into it, I immediately felt that it could impact at least one world leader.
Now, granted, you do not need Spidey senses to know that many of our leaders are older and not all are in the best of health. Xi Jinping is 71 years old, Vladimir Putin is 72, Benjamin Netanyahu is 75, King Charles III is 76, Donald Trump is 78, and Pope Francis is 88. In the United States, we have 28 senators between the ages of 70 and 79, and six who are 80 years old or older. In Congress, the average age is younger than in the Senate, but there are still 27 representatives between the ages of 70 and 79, five who are over 80, and one who is over 90 years old.
When we look at the top 10 richest people in the world, three of them are over 70 years old. Bernard Arnault is 75, Larry Ellison is 79, and Warren Buffett is 88. My point is that, with or without the eclipses, if we were to hear of a major health event involving any of these individuals, it would not come as a surprise. In fact, we already know that King Charles III has been battling cancer, the Pope was recently hospitalized, and there has been speculation about Trump's health for a while.
And speaking of Trump, how will these eclipses look for him? Let's dig in and evaluate some of the major transits along with the impacts of the eclipses.
How Will the Eclipses Impact Donald Trump?
The March 14th eclipse will square his natal Sun and Moon, activating a major change. Sun squares often indicate someone working against your purpose and a challenge to your structures, including home life and work, with hidden tensions.
Saturn is also making a square to his Sun and Moon, suggesting outside influences will challenge him, and his vitality could be low. This transit is linked to seven years ago, and on March 8, 2018, Trump formally ordered tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. Reimplementing tariffs could potentially rattle some of his billionaire donors. Domestically, things might not be rosy, especially if he is trying to maintain the appearance of harmony in his marriage.
Saturn is also square to his natal Uranus. In a work context, this transit could indicate the potential for being fired or stepping down because things just are not working. While Trump holds authority, there has long been speculation that he is beholden to others—likely multiple people or entities with conflicting demands.
Saturn is also sextile to his Midheaven (MC), which could typically bring positive energy for working alone. However, he is not in a solitary role, and this is not a transit well-suited for managing other people. He may find himself craving accolades but struggling to earn them.
Uranus is conjunct his MC, which often signals a shift in public perception. He may feel oppressed by the demands placed on him during this time, though if he does express this, it will likely come with blame directed at others.
Mars is conjunct with his Saturn, a transit filled with frustration that will last for approximately a month. If he tries to launch anything risky, it is unlikely to succeed. This could lead to internalized anger, potentially impacting his health. Interestingly, this transit does align with working with metal—perhaps a nod to the ongoing tariff narrative.
In Whole Signs, Mars is transiting his 12th house of hidden enemies. There is a strong possibility that any betrayal could come from those upset about tariffs, particularly involving metals. There is also a slight chance of internal upheaval or a "little coup," as the real story might involve a power struggle among oligarchs. There is also energy suggesting he could choose to leave on his own accord, though this seems unlikely.
Donald Trump’s chart the at the moment of the lunar eclipse is exact on March 14th, impacting his 2nd and 8th houses and squaring his 5th and 11th house placements.
One noteworthy factor: When Biden stepped down, transiting Pluto was at 0 degrees, and his natal Pluto is at 7 degrees Leo. Trump’s Pluto is at 10 degrees, with transiting Pluto currently at 3 degrees. This rare transit poses a critical choice—whether to leave behind a legacy or cling to power, risking a tarnished reputation. Those who pass the torch to the next generation may be remembered with respect, while those who hold on too tightly could watch their influence decay. And please know, that there could be an opportunity for Trump to step down, his overall temperament is not of someone who would do such a thing.
The eclipse on March 29th will see the Sun and Moon square to Mercury. This aspect could create conflict, and Trump might not fully grasp what is happening around him unless he is willing to engage in self-reflection. It could give him the energy to push his opinions forcefully, which may either haunt him later or win others over if he listens to opposing ideas. However, it is more likely that his emotions will overwhelm any critical or rational thinking.
With the Sun and Moon in opposition to Neptune, this could be a demoralizing and confusing time for Trump. He might find himself in a situation where he surrenders to someone else or is deceived. Misunderstandings with others are likely, fueled by confusion and miscommunication.
While there are some positive aspects in his chart, these challenging transits suggest that the next month, particularly the final weeks, may not be easy for him.

The Eclipses and The United States
Regardless of what happens to Trump or other world leaders, it is safe to assume that these two upcoming eclipses will impact the United States. Earlier in the article, I talked about why eclipses were a big deal. This has to do with the fact that we usually do not get an opportunity to see them. With the upcoming eclipses, there will be visibility, but in different ways. The first eclipse happens at night as the Earth casts its shadow on the moon. This lunar eclipse will be visible across the entire United States, with the greatest visibility in the Contiguous States.
Though eclipses can have impacts regardless of whether you are in the path or not, there tends to be a significance when you are in the path. Let’s take a look at the lunar eclipse on the evening of March 13th through 14th.
Lunar eclipses (unlike Solar Eclipses) can be seen from anywhere in the world as long as it is nighttime when the eclipse is occurring. This eclipse is a total lunar eclipse and it will be seen throughout North and Central America in its totality. I find the view to be profound with our current news, especially in regards to tariffs. The eclipse is in the sign of Virgo, the sign of being of service to others. Virgo represents the data and the details, and the trade wars are about things that come from the Earth—food, livestock, and metals. Something could come out on why or who is prompting the United States to disrupt a trade agreement that was actually made by the United States' current president during his first term.

What I found even more interesting is the Partial Solar Eclipse on the 29th. Now, I will admit, I am going out on a limb here, but there are a few things that stood out to me.
World view of the partial solar eclipse on March 29th https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar/2025-march-29
Most of the United States will not be in the path. The northeastern states that did not vote for Trump will have some view of the partial eclipse, though for most areas it will be faint. Washington DC is on the outskirts of the path, having the faintest view while on the opposite side of the path, Moscow is in a similar situation. It is as if Washington, DC and Moscow are symbolically the bookends of what is in the current news cycle.

In regards to the United States, Augusta, Maine which is the capital of the state, is on the path to have the most visibility of the partial solar eclipse. On February 21, 2025 Trump sparred with Governor Janet Mills in regards to transgender sports in which she replied that she would follow the law. Approximately a week later, a federal investigation was launched on Maine’s government. And we know there have been disputes with the United States administration with Canada, Greenland and some of many of the European nations that will have some visibility with the eclipse.

Though many economists, journalists, and political pundits have varying views, we know that Trump likes to shake things up, often using tariffs and other stunts as bargaining tools. However, we are currently hearing leaders like Justin Trudeau of Canada, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo of Mexico, and Mette Frederiksen of Denmark counter Trump's claims or demands. Trump is no longer a novelty on the international stage as he was in 2017.
Because of this, I decided to look at the Solar Eclipse in the Pisces-Virgo cycle. The eclipse occurred on February 26th, 2017, with visibility across the southern part of South America and the central and southern regions of Africa. At the time, Trump had been in office for just over a month, with his attention focused on managing the chaos of setting up his administration. He was also pushing back against journalists, claiming that reports linking him to Russia were "fake news."
And though I often write from a United States perspective, we can gain insight into what this eclipse might entail by examining what was happening in the southern hemisphere.

During this time, countries in the southern hemisphere were navigating their own forms of chaos and transformation. In Brazil, the far-reaching Operation Car Wash corruption investigation continued, exposing deep-rooted issues within the government. The state of Espírito Santo faced a security crisis as a police strike led to a surge in violence, revealing the fragility of local governance.
In Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa were hit by the devastating effects of Cyclone Dineo. The floods caused significant loss of life and displacement, particularly in Zimbabwe, where over 250 people died, and thousands were forced from their homes. Meanwhile, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, violence intensified with the Kamwina Nsapu rebellion and ongoing ethnic tensions in the Tanganyika province. Despite the turmoil, cultural events like the Festival Amani in Goma provided moments of peace and unity.
The overarching themes for these countries included shifts in political policies and trade alliances, particularly evident in Angola. Investigations into corruption also took center stage. Cyclone Dineo led to food shortages in several African nations. Given the immigration policies and trade wars that the United States is implementing, these eclipses could herald civil unrest and potential challenges to our food supply.
With the influence of eclipses, the power of Neptune in Pisces, and our entrance into the era of Pluto in Aquarius, a direct correlation with the last eclipse cycle may play out differently this time. Considering that the astrology for most of March doesn't favor Trump, the shifts could manifest in his perspective and strategy. As mentioned earlier, there could also be a shift or a reveal of who is truly in power.
We don't need to rely solely on the current eclipses or astrological aspects to recognize that we are already experiencing significant change within the United States. The big mystery lies in what the end result will be, which is difficult to predict with certainty.
As I have mentioned many times before, I just don't "see" Trump, nor do I feel the same concern about him being President as I did in the past. This is not because I personally support him; quite the opposite. Instead, it feels like his influence is not as prominent or that he may not be the focal point moving forward.
Uranus and Its Impact
If we look back at the last few times Uranus was in the final degrees of Taurus, we see a recurring theme of shifting alliances and changes in ownership and power. The years leading up to the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War II, as well as now, align with Uranus transitioning from Taurus into the zodiac sign of Gemini. It is natural to feel uneasy seeing this trend. No one wants war, but the roots of these conflicts often revolve around ideology, land, money, power, and control. Perhaps what we need to do is understand that it is not “us” who create the conflict but those in actual power, so we can break the cycle.
Interestingly, the first sighting of Uranus was made when it was positioned at 28 degrees of Taurus. England's first Astronomer Royal, John Flamsteed, mistakenly cataloged it as the star 34 Tauri. When I bring up past history, my intention is not to instill fear. As humans, we tend to record conflicts and wars while capturing the beauty of our personal experiences through literature, poetry, music, and performances. We often trivialize what connects us and inflate what divides us. Recorded history focuses on extremes rather than the nuances of daily living. We also seem to relish what is shocking, a trait associated with Uranus. Learning how to handle this potent force could help us recognize the positive traits Uranus offers: innovation, progress, and liberation.
It is crucial to remember that even during difficult times, we still have friends, neighbors, and family. We love, play, and create. We live our lives and can have positive experiences, even when it feels like the world is on fire. While history shows us a series of conflicts, this does not mean we are doomed to repeat them. Humans have the capacity to transform and transcend patterns, though it requires concerted effort. By focusing more on what we have in common, we can help counterbalance the current energy.
By now, you are probably wondering how the upcoming eclipses might impact your own life. Keep in mind that understanding the effects of eclipses involves more than just looking at which house is activated in your chart. It also requires examining the current astrology and, ideally, comparing it to your own natal chart.
With that in mind, let's consider the polarity at play with the lunar eclipse, which occurs on a full moon. This eclipse could connect back to the eclipse that happened in September of 2017. It might be helpful to reflect on what was happening in your life during that time. Are there any themes, patterns, or storylines that could be coming full circle now?
Eclipses often signal turning points, and this particular cycle might bring an opportunity for closure, revelation, or a shift in perspective. Whether it feels like an ending or a new beginning, approaching this time with openness and curiosity can help you navigate whatever comes your way.
Final Thoughts
As the March eclipses approach, it is clear that change is in the air, both on a collective and personal level. There is a mix of dread and excitement that does not correlate with party lines but more so with an understanding that what happens next is, in some way, out of our hands. Whether these shifts manifest through political landscapes, global alliances, or within our own lives, the energy of these celestial events encourages us to be ready for change.
While it is impossible to predict exactly how these eclipses will unfold, understanding the broader astrological influences can help us navigate whatever transpires. Uncertainty is not comfortable, but in hindsight, we may look back at this moment and understand that we all collectively needed to be here.
Take time to ground yourself, observe the world around you, and embrace the opportunities for growth and healing that these eclipses may bring. Be gentle with yourself and others. Engage with your community. With one eclipse in Virgo and the other in Aries, being of service to each other can help empower all of us to stand strong. Most importantly, avoid overextending yourself. This is a time of reflection, especially regarding our values and thought processes. By understanding that we are all going through this pivotal change together, we can find gratitude in being part of both history and the art of everyday existence.
