I love writing articles on Substack, and it may have been a surprise for some when my output disappeared for the past week and a half. I apologize for the recent silence; a severe cold, influenced by significant astrological transits in my chart, affected my ability to communicate. Notably, Pluto trines Mercury in my 6th house, Saturn square to my 6th house, Leo Mars trine to my 6th house, a New Moon conjunct my 6th house, and Mercury Retrograde transiting my 6th house—all contributed to this period of illness. I had an article that I started for December, but over the past week, I didn’t have the energy to complete it. The silver lining, though, is that the illness was not due to COVID (as far as I know, both tests came back negative).
Given Mercury's placement in my 6th house, it's understandable that this illness impacted my throat and head, hindering communication. Additionally, my Sagittarius Mars in the 6th house experienced diminished energy due to these transits. Balancing multiple responsibilities—including writing articles, managing my jewelry business at NatureReflectionsJewelry.com, engaging on social media, astrological consultations at GrandTrineAstrology.com, and participating in Reddit's astrology community—necessitated this period of rest. My body needed it, and though I wanted to plow through, I tried my best to listen and just do what absolutely had to be done.
The good news is that I am almost back to my usual self. I recognize that it's too late to provide a comprehensive December newsletter. However, with Pluto's impending influence on global events, I am considering focusing on shorter, timely articles. This Mercury and Mars retrograde period offers an opportunity to reassess past actions and develop a more balanced and consistent approach moving forward. My schedule has been erratic for quite some time: Sagittarius in the 6th house can be overly optimistic on doing too many things at once, and then when feeling overwhelmed, to check out. This is not the way I want to do business or live my life, and fortunately, with two concurrent personal planets in retrograde, it’s a great time for many of us to evaluate what works and doesn’t work and make adjustments going forward.
But, I am not the type of person to leave you high and dry. If you don’t know my back story, I studied with Evan Nathaniel Grim. Evan is an astute astrologer and teacher, who has a thriving video podcast and Substack following. His predictions are eerily accurate. I recommend checking out his December 2024 forecast: December 2024 Predictions & Horoscopes: Wrestling with the Retrogrades.
Eva Sylwester writes horoscopes on a popular website and also has a growing Substack. Her weekend entertainment guide is packed with information and resources and a deep dive on a current event. Her subjects are diverse, which keeps her page both entertaining but there tends to be something there for everyone. She is a huge proponent of other astrology Substacks and if you miss reading magazines, Eva gives you the joy of sitting on your couch and reading each week.
Another Substack I would like to recommend is Marjorie Gatson’s The Punk Priestess. She explores the current energies with both astrology and tarot. The cards that Marjorie uses are unique and beautiful, and when I read her articles, at times, I feel transported to a safe and beautiful world, full of hope and magic. Like me, she also does readings.
If you don’t know, I was raised in the Catholic Church. I was also a rebel, constantly questioning why women could not be priests or girls assist with the Mass like altar boys. My constant questioning of traditions had me rejected from being confirmed at the age of 13. My parents were not happy with me in the least. This is why I believe that Melissa’s Meeting Magdalene Substack resonates with me. My intuitive gut had told me at a young age that there was much more to the story of Jesus, especially the women who were part of the movement. If you want a deep dive into gnostic truths, I highly recommend exploring this beautiful and empowering Substack.
Again, my apologies for not being here for the start of December, especially since this is a busy month. Besides Mars’ retrograde on December 6th, we have many more changes in store for us:
December 6: Mars Retrograde begins in Leo
December 7: Venus enters Aquarius
December 7: Ceres enters Aquarius
December 7: Neptune turns direct in Pisces
December 15: Mercury turns direct in Sagittarius
December 15: Full Moon at 23°53' Gemini
December 21: Sun enters Capricorn
December 30: New Moon at 9°44' Capricorn
But besides the events above, we are seeing the impact of Pluto in Aquarius, along with the other aspects in our sky. But with everything going on outside, remember, we can only control ourselves and how we take care of our mind, body, and spirit. As we traverse through the next few years, I think it is important to remember that in the past, during times of unrest, people still fell in love, had children, celebrated milestones, and were part of a community. Yes, there is much more noise than we are used to experiencing. But, there is still that thread that connects us together and weaves through our souls.
