Aries New Moon Eclipse: Insights and Horoscopes
Astrological guidance to help you navigate change, purpose, and inner alignment
Often, we think of a new moon as a time to manifest, but this one is different. We’re experiencing a partial solar eclipse, with two personal planets in retrograde. Before diving into horoscopes or deciding whether it’s the right time to set intentions, let’s explore some of the esoteric influences surrounding this eclipse.
In numerology, the number nine represents completion, the end of a cycle, and the wisdom we’ve gained through it. Yet this solar eclipse occurs with a new moon at the 9th degree of Aries. Traditionally, a new moon signifies a fresh start and the beginning of a new cycle. So how do we reconcile the energy of endings with that of beginnings?
This new moon may feel especially complex, as it marks the final eclipse in the Aries and Libra polarity. We won’t see another eclipse in these signs until October 18, 2032, when a lunar eclipse occurs at 26° Aries.
But endings and beginnings often arrive at the same time. Cycles don’t move in straight lines. They spiral, interweaving and overlapping. I like to think of them as a spirograph drawing, where cogged wheels and ink create layered, evolving patterns.
Though I haven’t deeply explored Sabian Symbols, there are rare moments when I feel drawn to them, like now. The Sabian Symbol for 9° Aries is “A Crystal Gazer.” It invites us to focus on the subtle mind and to see the broader picture through a holistic lens. This energy isn’t for the narcissist or the self-absorbed. It is for those who can envision a future that benefits more than just themselves.
While exploring James Burgess’ site, I decided to look up my own Sabian Symbols. As I scrolled, two symbols stood out. These are connected to the outer planets and are known as the Trinity and Unity points. My Unity point, which reflects how we bring spiritual power into outer reality, happens to be Aries at 9°. It’s aligned exactly with this solar eclipse. Let’s just say I was a little mind blown, but honestly, with the amount of synchronicities unfolding since the lunar eclipse, I wasn’t all that surprised.
We also can’t overlook the decan this eclipse falls in. It is in the first decan of Aries, which is ruled by Mars, so we can expect action. The 9th degree also carries a Sagittarian vibration, so beliefs, especially those tied to freedom, may rise to the surface.
Before we explore how this energy may show up in your chart, let’s take a closer look at the eclipse itself and the astrology surrounding it.
Solar Eclipse in Aries at 9 degrees on March 29th at 5:53 AM CDT
When the eclipse occurs, Mercury will still be retrograde in Aries and just emerging from combustion. This means that while we may have been deep in reflection, our thoughts in the days leading up to the eclipse may not have been as clear as we hoped. Still, we might go to bed the night before with a gnawing feeling that we are on the verge of something important, and wake up with a sharper understanding of our own lives or of the chaos unfolding in the world.
The eclipse itself is not making any major aspects while it is at 9 degrees in relation to other transiting planets. However, you will want to check your own chart to see if it is making any personal aspects. If you have placements between 0 and 19 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn, this could be a major moment of clarity. The eclipse may close one door and open a window in an area of life that has felt particularly challenging. It could shake something loose, something you have sensed needs to change, even if you were unsure how to approach it.
With Mercury retrograde conjunct Neptune, expect truths to rise to the surface, especially those you have been avoiding within yourself. On the evening of March 29, Mercury will retrograde back into Pisces and form an exact conjunction with Neptune. This could be a potent but disorienting moment as many of us find ourselves reviewing the past 13 to 14 years. By the morning of the 30th, Neptune will move into Aries. The insights you had the day before may evolve or reveal new layers. With Pluto forming a sextile to both Mercury and Neptune, meditation or divination may bring the most valuable insights.
Themes involving your values, and the values of those you love, are likely to come into focus. If you approach this weekend from a place of fear, you may fall into over-analysis or hypercriticism, seeing only data and missing the humanity. If you remain open and optimistic, you may begin to understand that spiritual connection requires each of us to take responsibility for our role in what has unfolded. The North Node encourages compassion and surrender to a higher purpose. Saturn reminds us to stop looking for someone else to save us, and instead to be accountable for our own soul’s journey. Venus offers a gentle reminder that when all is said and done, the truest expression of self is love for ourselves, for one another, and for the experience of being alive during these transformative times.
Since March 17, Uranus in Taurus has been in sextile with Mars in Cancer. This energy will continue through April 15. That feeling of impatience or restlessness you are experiencing is connected to this transit. When combined with the current Mercury and Venus retrogrades, life may feel especially disrupted. You may find yourself acting impulsively or changing your mind frequently. Let’s be honest, we are living through unpredictable times. Even astrologers are shifting back and forth, not because they lack clarity, but because the energy feels like a game of whack-a-mole. One moment brings a new insight, the next a new task or an unexpected reaction from someone around us.
What may be most surprising is that, in the midst of all this kinetic and potential energy, there is still a sense of optimism. Jupiter is not making major aspects to the other planets at this time, yet somehow its influence brings a feeling that things can get better. Yes, we are questioning everything, and some may even be questioning their sanity. In the United States, this could be connected to the Sibley chart, where Jupiter is transiting the seventh house, forming conjunctions with Mars and Uranus and a trine to Saturn. On some deep level, we may understand that we need to experience this time so that we can eventually make things right.
Now that we have explored the broader energy of this eclipse, let’s look at how it may show up in your personal life.
Horoscopes for the Solar Eclipse on March 29
I write these horoscopes by looking at each rising sign and what is currently transiting each house. Some may resonate more with your sun or moon sign, so I recommend reading all three for greater clarity. That said, your rising sign will most likely offer the most aligned perspective.
Aries Rising:
With the eclipse happening in your first house, you may be stepping into a new perception of yourself. This could be a time, especially through meditation or quiet reflection, where you gain clarity about how you want to show up in the world and what aspects of yourself you are ready to share more openly.
Allow the insights you receive in the days surrounding the eclipse to settle before jumping into action. You may only get fragments at first, but as more information comes in, what began as a surface-level realization could deepen into something profound.
If you can, consider joining a group activity like yoga or a spiritual ceremony. Being around others may open you to a powerful experience, especially when there is an opportunity for expression. A gong or drum circle, or even group singing or dance, could expand your awareness and elevate your consciousness.
You may also feel inspired to make changes to your living situation, such as repurposing a space or considering a move. Just take your time. Let the energy unfold before committing to a major decision.
Taurus Rising:
If anyone is primed for a deep and profound download from spirit during this eclipse, it’s you. With the eclipse in your twelfth house, your intuitive and dream life may become especially active. Keep a journal nearby and write down anything that feels different from your usual thought patterns before, during, and after the eclipse.
Spending time in nature will enhance your ability to tune in. Even if you live in the city, listen to the birds, notice flowers growing through cracks in the sidewalk, or spend a few quiet moments with a tree. These simple actions can reconnect you with fresh, inspiring energy that speaks to your soul.
You may feel called to take on more responsibility within your social circle, or you could be inspired to join a cause that reflects a spiritual insight or message you’ve received. Leadership is something you have been developing over the past couple of years, and this eclipse may give you a clearer sense of direction.
You are likely more communicative now, with a strong desire to express your values. This might include using social media with purpose, spreading messages of love, community, and togetherness.
There may also be an opportunity to help someone close to home. This could be as simple as checking in on a neighbor or assisting someone who needs a ride or support. Small gestures will have a meaningful impact.
Gemini Rising:
This eclipse highlights your eleventh house, bringing your attention to community and friendship. You may feel drawn to find a new group of people who reflect your current values, or you may want to deepen your existing friendships beyond surface-level interactions.
Your sleep may be interrupted by bursts of insight or restless thinking. Your mind could be racing with ideas about how to live in greater alignment with your true beliefs. Pay attention to these late-night revelations. They may point you toward the changes you are ready to make.
You might be a source of positivity for others, offering perspective when things feel uncertain. While others are spiraling into complaints or stress, you may take a more philosophical or detached approach, encouraging self-responsibility. On the flip side, if you find yourself amplifying pessimism, try to balance your thoughts by acknowledging both the challenges and the opportunities within the situation.
At work, someone may ask you to take the lead on a project, especially one related to communication, vision, or public messaging. This could include public relations, interoffice initiatives, or anything that aligns with the mission or reputation of your workplace.
Cancer Rising:
You may have pulled back recently to reflect on your career and how far you have come. With the eclipse in your tenth house, this is a powerful moment to gain clarity on your next steps. If you have struggled to gain traction, it may be because you were trying to follow someone else’s path rather than trusting your own.
Notice what is actually working. It is most likely when you are honoring your authentic self that you find success. Even if you have a mentor, remember that your direction will differ from theirs. They may guide you, but you are the one walking the path.
You might find yourself thinking deeply about your education, spirituality, or belief systems. This is a good time to reflect on the traditions and teachings that have shaped you, and to begin sharing the wisdom you have accumulated. You may know more than you give yourself credit for, and you also understand that learning never truly ends.
In the days leading up to the eclipse, especially on the nights of the 28th and 29th, your dreams may become especially vivid. You could receive symbols or messages from your guides that help illuminate your next steps. Be sure to write them down and reflect on their meaning.
You may also receive a surprising request from a friend or group. They could ask you to participate in something meaningful or step into a leadership role. They trust your judgment, and your ability to offer solutions that are both wise and compassionate will be deeply appreciated.
Leo Rising:
This eclipse may stir your desire to travel, especially to places you have never visited. You might also feel called to explore your ancestry or reconnect with the elders in your family.
Over the past couple of years, you have taken on responsibility for shared resources, which may have you thinking about the future and who would handle things if something happened to you. This is a good time to make sure your affairs are in order. Ensure that beneficiaries are listed correctly and that those closest to you know which accounts are active and who has access. I am not trying to worry you, Leo. I know you want to live forever and keep shining that radiant light of yours. But sometimes, taking care of the details is part of honoring the life you love. With Neptune and Saturn moving away from your eighth house in the coming months, it is wise to tie up any loose ends now.
Your social life has been expanding, and you are likely enjoying the process of making new friends and engaging in group activities. If you decide to travel, you might enjoy a group excursion that allows you to share memorable experiences with others.
You may have also been meditating, doing breathwork, or saying prayers lately. Consider bringing this same energy into your work life. One helpful practice is to keep a notepad nearby and jot down anything that brings you joy or gratitude. This helps you stay connected to the simple pleasures that lift your spirit.
Virgo Rising:
Sometimes, Virgo, you fall into routine and forget to check whether those routines are still serving you. This eclipse shines a light on an area you may have been neglecting. You share resources with others, and some of those resources may be untapped or overlooked. This is a good time to explore new ventures that fall outside of your usual comfort zone. While traditional investments might carry risk right now, alternative options could help you grow your finances in a creative way.
In your relationships, you have probably been carrying more than your fair share. If you have felt emotionally distant, this is the time to open up. Share your inner thoughts and feelings with the people who matter to you. Reflect on whether you have been fully present, or just going through the motions of what you thought was expected.
Lately, you may have been receiving positive recognition, especially for the quality of your work and your reputation for being reliable and skilled. But do not forget to take a break from all the responsibility. Let yourself have some fun. Go out dancing, spend time with friends, and celebrate life. If your social circle feels small, consider volunteering for a cause that aligns with your values. You will likely find both community and fulfillment through service.
Libra Rising:
For the past few years, you have been learning how to balance your needs with the needs of others. This is the last eclipse in this polarity for several years, and it invites you to be honest and direct in your relationships. After thoughtful reflection, express your feelings clearly to the people you care about. Let them know how important they are, while also respecting both your boundaries and theirs. Aim for sincerity, not codependence or passive aggression.
Yes, Libra, the workload has been intense. You have taken on more tasks and responsibilities than any one person should have to handle. Some of these demands may not even be part of your job description. With Mars in Cancer moving through your tenth house, it can feel like everyone is relying on you for everything. While being needed can feel good, it can also burn you out.
This is a good time to check your finances. There may be something draining your resources without you realizing it. A quick review of your budget or accounts might help you spot areas that need adjustment.
As I have said before, this is an ideal time for you to travel or take a break. You need time to rest and recharge. Working hard is important, but so is enjoying the rewards of your efforts.
Scorpio Rising:
Scorpio, I know the past few years have left you feeling creatively blocked or caught between inspiration and restriction. This eclipse activates your sixth house, asking you to reconsider how you create and how you manage your daily life. Even if you tend to use traditional tools or methods, think about how you could simplify or innovate. A clean and organized workspace can also help clear your mind and make space for your soul to express itself more freely.
Use the eclipse to reflect on the past few years with compassion rather than criticism. You may not have created as prolifically as you once did, but what you have produced may carry deeper meaning and stronger alignment with your true purpose.
Push yourself to explore new experiences. Try foods you normally would not eat, take a class on a subject that has always interested you, or visit a museum or spiritual center. Stepping outside of your comfort zone can reignite your creative spark.
This eclipse might also bring an opportunity to earn a little extra income. You could consider short-term or flexible work, such as reviewing AI-generated data or helping with tasks that offer a quick return. Even small gigs could bring unexpected rewards.
Sagittarius Rising:
With the eclipse occurring in your fifth house, you may wake up with a burst of creative energy, fresh ideas, and a strong desire to go out into the world and share your joy. This could mark a major shift in your energy, especially if you express yourself through art, poetry, singing, dancing, or anything that feels truly authentic.
There has been some heaviness at home over the past couple of years, and this is a good time to take care of any responsibilities you may have been putting off. Remember that your home is built upon your dreams, and it takes love and understanding to build bridges within it. This is a beautiful moment to let the people in your home know how much you care, even if you are not always on the same page.
You may also need to take action regarding shared resources. Something as simple as checking in on your financial safety nets could go a long way.
Your one-on-one relationships feel strong, and you may be feeling optimistic and generous with your love and affection.
That said, your daily routines may feel unpredictable. One day you have an abundance of energy, and the next you feel completely wiped out. This pattern has likely been going on for a few years, but it may be even more noticeable now. It can feel like someone is flipping a light switch on and off when it comes to your vitality.
Capricorn Rising:
This eclipse can be deeply healing for you, especially in matters of the home. You may find yourself gaining clarity through compassion, either by understanding your own pain without blaming others or by stepping into someone else’s shoes and offering them grace.
Over the past few years, you may have felt silenced or limited in your communication. Those limits were likely self-imposed. With current retrogrades and the North Node involved, you may now realize that you have more freedom to express yourself than you previously believed. People want to hear your perspective, and they want you to be part of the conversation.
There has been a lot on your plate when it comes to day-to-day responsibilities, but strangely, this may also be where you’ve found the most joy. Keeping busy can be fulfilling for you, Capricorn. Just be mindful not to overload yourself as a way of avoiding deeper emotional connection with the people you love.
This is also a wonderful time to do something special with your partner or closest friend. If you’ve been putting off a shared activity or quality time together, this is your signal to go for it. A romantic dinner, a trip to the spa, or even something spontaneous and playful could help release the pressure you’ve been holding and restore a sense of flow between you.
Aquarius Rising:
This eclipse highlights your third house of communication and local involvement. You may feel the urge to head out to a coffee shop, attend a local festival, or take part in a community event like a poetry reading or a marathon.
Lately, you’ve been thinking a lot about your personal values and how they align with the larger world. You may feel ready to take a stand, whether that means joining a protest, writing letters, or even considering a run for local office. If not you, you may be drawn to support someone else who shares your ideals and vision for the future.
Even though your thoughts have been heavy, you’ve also been surprisingly optimistic. Creative expression and authentic selfhood feel important to you now, and you may feel more inspired to share your voice.
It also wouldn’t be surprising if you’ve been thinking about alternative or communal living. An innovative housing solution or community-centered lifestyle may feel like a genuine way to solve some of the issues you see around you.
Pisces Rising:
This eclipse brings your values to the forefront, whether that’s a treasured possession or a personal belief you hold close. Your second house themes of autonomy and freedom are front and center. You may be especially tuned in to those who lack access to personal agency, and you might feel a need to speak out about the rights and dignity of others.
In recent years, you may have felt limited by the expectations of others. It may have felt like you couldn’t be your full self. Now, however, that sense of restriction is lifting. The weight that’s been holding you back is beginning to fall away. You’ve been reflecting on what you truly want and how you wish to show up in the world.
Home likely feels like your safe haven, a place where you can retreat and recharge. Lately, you may have felt the urge to create, whether through writing, painting, or another form of self-expression.
You might also find yourself observing your local community with a new perspective, questioning how you fit in or where your people are. If you haven’t yet found your tribe, this eclipse may offer insight into where and how to connect with those who share your values. Over the next 20 years, you will go through a deep spiritual transformation. Now may be a good time to explore communities that focus on mutual care—things like food distribution, supporting elders, or nurturing the physical and emotional wellbeing of your neighborhood.
Should I Manifest During This Eclipse?
Maybe, but not in the usual way. Now that you've read the horoscopes, you might be wondering what to do with this energy. With Neptune at 29 degrees and both Venus and Mercury in retrograde, you could unintentionally manifest something that seems right on the surface, but ends up bringing unexpected consequences.
This is a time when we are shifting from spiritual collectiveness to spiritual authenticity. Taking a more observational, receptive approach may serve you better than trying to force anything. Rather than saying, “I want this to happen,” this could be a moment to trust, to have faith, and to allow things to unfold.
Lately, I’ve been surrounding everything with light and simply asking for the best outcome. I’m noticing and appreciating the small things each day. I’m shifting away from control and learning to let things be. I still care deeply about everyone and everything, but I’m meeting life with more observation and less emotional urgency.
Since the last eclipse, I’ve felt a major shift. Business has picked up. I’ve been waking up with joy, watching geese fly overhead, or later in the day, counting turtles sunning themselves on the bank of our pond. There’s a quiet bliss to it. This feels like the energy I had twelve years ago, in the months before everything I had ever wanted came to fruition. Back then, I allowed the energy to flow rather than forcing it, and that’s what I’m returning to now.
So instead of me answering this question for you, ask yourself: Can you trust the universe to provide the experience that is truly meant for you?
Final Thoughts
Let this eclipse bring insight, but also stay open and flexible. Over the coming months, we will experience several major energy shifts. Neptune enters Aries, and by midsummer, Uranus will move into Gemini, Saturn into Aries, and Jupiter into Cancer. That is a lot of movement.
The best way to move through change is with softness rather than rigidity. You want to remain adaptable enough to flow around the obstacles and attuned enough to notice the signs your guides are sending. If the messages are subtle, keep a journal and jot down what you do notice, such as recurring symbols in dreams, repeated numbers, or anything that feels just a little out of the ordinary.
And please know, I’m not suggesting you check out or disengage from what’s happening in the world. But just like an emergency room doctor, a little detachment can help you assess the situation and act wisely. If you are overwhelmed by fear or chaos, it becomes much harder to respond effectively. Ground yourself first, then respond.
After reading this article and your horoscopes, take what resonates and leave the rest. Let this eclipse be a turning point where your truth becomes your compass and your energy begins to align with your soul’s journey. The answers are already within you. It is just a matter of asking the right questions.

A question about Sabian symbols. I thought you are supposed to round up when reading them, even if, like this new moon, the minutes are 00. So that would make the Sabian symbol for this new moon 10 degrees instead of 9. I've searched for clarification and this is the best I could find.
https://www.boveeastrology.com/guidelines-for-using-the-sabian-symbols.html (see the third paragraph under #1 Always Round Up). Hope this doesn't mess up your analysis.
As for my chart, with Scorpio rising, an opportunity to earn a little extra income would be right on time!
